GMHS has the distinct honor of recognizing Dean and Cam Williams as inaugural Humane Heroes for their service to the shelter’s life-saving mission, their formative and transformative effect on the lives of community members and homeless pets, and their vision for the sustainability and future of the organization. This posthumous honor will be shared during a video tribute to be released January 30, 2021, in conjunction with the organization’s Top Hats and Tails virtual gala and auction.
With their shared empathy and humanity, Dean and Cam were a force for good. Through their philanthropy, they inspired those seeking to improve the lives of people and pets. Cam’s leadership of GMHS’ first major capital campaign and innate understanding of the organization’s potential made the shelter’s move to its current site located on Jackson Lane in Gloucester possible. With more than 50 years’ investment experience, Dean selflessly shared his impeccable business acumen, which set GMHS on the course for financial stability and growth.
Together, they advocated for and established The GMHS Legacy Fund, an endowment wholly owned by GMHS and critical to its evolution and mission to save and transform even more lives. In all pursuits, they deliberately and mindfully led with their hearts as much as their intellect. Through their generous and consistent financial support, they fulfilled their commitment to do the greatest amount of good for homeless pets in desperate need of love, kindness, and compassion.
