To protect team members and the public, adoptions continue to be performed by appointment only and with an approved adoption questionnaire.

To get started, click on the available pet links at the bottom of this page. Click on the pet's photo and then the Apply for Adoption link to submit your adoption questionnaire. Once the questionnaire has been processed, a team member will contact you to schedule an appointment.

Adoption Process

Adoption can be a fairly quick process, depending on if the adopter is ready and if the animal is cleared by our medical and behavioral team. If applicable, GMHS will also check with an adopters current veterinarian and landlord prior to adoption. There are a few items the adopter can bring to expedite adoption even further:

  • Veterinary records for other pets in the household.
  • Copy of renter's lease agreement giving permission for new pet.

Besides looking for a love match between person and pet, GMHS wants to make sure that all members of the family, both two and four legged, approve of the new pet. GMHS will perform a meet-and-greet between potential four-legged siblings to make sure everyone in the home will get along.

All cats and dogs adopted from the GMHS will already be spayed or neutered and will have been given their basic inoculations, including rabies if the animal is old enough. All animals are micro-chipped.

Adoption Fees

  • Dogs:  $150
  • Cats:  $80

  • Poultry/Equine/Farm Animals:  Varies
Adoption Fees include:
