Opportunity for Supporters to Double Donations through January 31, 2021
Opportunity for Supporters to Double Donations through January 31, 2021
Gloucester, Virginia (December 21, 2020) – Gloucester-Mathews Humane Society has kicked off the Top Hats and Tails Matching Gift Challenge inspired by the Giving Period traditionally held during the annual gala and auction.
Between December 21, 2020, and January 31, 2021, the organization seeks to raise $170k in monetary donations to unlock the life-saving power of this matching gift and supporters have the opportunity to double their donations with a gift to this fundraising campaign.
As an additional bonus for donors, unlike other years when charitable gifts are limited by a percentage of adjusted gross income, charitable donations made in 2020 to qualifying organizations are 100% tax-deductible (CARES Act). The GMHS team hopes this matching gift will inspire those with a heart for homeless pets to give, knowing their contribution will be doubled.
Monetary donations made to GMHS by January 31, 2021, are eligible to be matched. Donations may be made via PayPal, phone (804-693-5520), and mail (P.O. Box 385, Gloucester, VA 23061), and all are eligible for this challenge.
"We are grateful beyond measure to the individuals who have offered this matching gift as well as those who will be inspired to donate in response to the challenge. The services of GMHS and our Fixin' to Save Spay & Neuter Clinic are in greater demand than ever before. This is an incredibly unique opportunity for the people and pets served by our organization and positions us to save even more lives," says GMHS Chief Executive Officer April Martinez.
GMHS Board President Richard Crowder says, "Every potential donor wishes to be assured their donation is not only appreciated but used effectively. The generous donors who have committed to this match, while anonymous, are all longtime supporters of our mission and very knowledgeable of how any donated funds will be used at GMHS. We hope folks will seize this opportunity to join them and us in saving even more lives."
GMHS’ animal welfare programs and services, including low- and no-cost spay/neuter surgery at Fixin’ to Save Spay & Neuter Clinic, help thousands of pets and families each year. GMHS is neither affiliated with any national animal welfare organizations nor receives funding from the ASPCA or the Humane Society of the United States.
