Keep Your Pet In Your Home
GMHS and the Middle Peninsula have many resources available to help families keep their pet in the home. Staying in the home is the best possible outcome for pets and the families that love them.
Pet Pantry
GMHS works with local businesses to provide assistance to families and individuals facing financial hardship who cannot afford to buy food for their pet(s). If you would like to request food assistance, visit GMHS during open business hours to register in our Pet Pantry program. You will need a valid ID and all unaltered pets will be entered into our free spay/neuter program.
Correcting Behavior Problems
If you are experiencing behavior problems with your pet and need information or resources, please contact GMHS at information@gmhumanesociety.org or 804-693-5520 to speak with our knowledgeable staff about correcting behavior or resources available in the area that can assist with behavior modification or training. Your email or phone call will be returned within approximately three days.
Free Spay/Neuter
GMHS provides free spay/neuter to qualified residents. Many health and behavior problems can be resolved simply by spaying or neutering your pet. Getting your animals altered will also prevent unwanted litters. Please contact 804-693-5520, ext. 304 to see if you qualify for our free spay/neuter program.
Veterinary Cost Help
GMHS can offer advice on low-cost veterinary outlets to investigate. Please call 804-693-5520 to learn more.
Moving/Rental Issues
