We are currently hiring a Veterinary Care Coordinator to lead our medical team. This is a full-time, salaried exempt opportunity with benefits. The Vet Care Coordinator will lead GMHS’ Vet Care Team, report to the Operations Director, and collaborate with the Animal Placement Coordinator to ensure industry leading care for every shelter animal.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Lead and develop Vet Care Team members, including scheduling team members, providing daily supervision, and fostering collaborative working environment
- Administer daily medications & supportive care
- Maintain euthanasia certification
- Maintain and update protocols
- Maintain licenses
- Maintain records, supplies, and working relationship with shelter veterinarian
- Ensure animals transferred to other shelters have proper vetting and medical paperwork by deadline
- Ensure all animals have complete exams within 48 hours of their arrival
- Ensure all medical records are maintained electronically, with detailed notes, promptly
- Maintain drug logs accurately
- Inventory and order medications, medical supplies, prescription foods, and PPE
- Coordinate S/N appointments and transportation for shelter animals
- Coordinate offsite veterinarian appointments and transportation as needed
- Coordinate onsite employee vet clinic
- Work with foster coordinator to identify animals in need of foster, keep up to date medically while in foster
- Complete heartworm treatment of shelter and foster dogs under supervision of veterinarian
- Move animals to public adoption spaces and mark as available for the public when vetting is complete
- Ensure proper feeding protocols are observed for all dogs
- Ensure that any needed protocol, sanitation, or housing changes related to individual circumstance or outbreak are communicated to all management and team.
Required skills/experience:
- Minimum two years' Veterinary Assistant experience
- Two years' management experience
- Possess or be willing to obtain euthanasia certification
Working Conditions:
- Work may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays
- Work may include visits to or assistance at multiple locations, including, but not limited to, Gloucester County Animal Control, Fixin’ to Save Spay & Neuter Clinic, Petco, and partner shelters
- Fast-paced and changing work environment, which at times may be stressful or emotionally charged
- Exposure to dead, sick, injured, and/or dangerous animals
